Bullies don’t rule is a fantastic resource for parents and children. It not only teaches children a mature way to deal with bullies, but it also lists signs for parents to look for to know if your child is being bullied.
My initial reaction and thoughts to Bullies Don’t Rule….I started reading it with an open mind, in hope it would help with ideas and signs to look for to help children that are being bullied and how parents can help. It certainly gave me a new way of looking at how to help my children and since reading it, I have started to really watch and try to understand for warning signs that were listed. I have also started to use the book to have conversations with my kids about being bullied. The book teaches simple ways to deal with bullying and these ways have been used in many conversations of late. I read the book, and so has my oldest child.
My 2 younger children (although they can both read very well ) have had the book read to them and talked about it along the way.
The simple ways to teach your kids how to deal with bulling is easy to understand and was found to be very beneficial. The book is a great read from both a child’s and a parent’s perspective. The practical, age appropriate strategies and stories to teach children how to overcome bullying was a great idea.
We are putting strategies into place each and every day, it will be something that will continue to happen over time, but it hopefully will help in the long run.
Personally, I think this book should be used in all classrooms in schools as I found it a valuable resource and more parents should read it, along with school teachers to use as a discussion starter. It has been well written from a child’s perspective. As a mother of children who get bullied, this book has helped me understand how I can help my children a lot more. One thing I got from this book….BULLIES DON’T RULE….
