As one-fifth of the original Hi-5, formed in 1998, Tim has delighted young fans with unforgettable children’s entertainment and live performances, bagging five ARIAs, three Logies and a Helpmann award. He has been instrumental as a member of the only act in history to have won five consecutive awards in the same category and has outsold notable Aussie exports such as Kylie Minogue and AC/DC at London’s famous Apollo Theatre.
His performing career was put on hiatus in 2007 when Tim was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. While recuperating, he helmed a new business startup, Obsidian Productions, as writer, director, producer and company manager.
After moving to the UK in 2009 he was soon snapped up as a singer/guitarist in the Michael Jackson Spectacular “MJ Timeless” at the Globe Theatre in Blackpool. He performed at the famous Blackpool Illuminations “Switch On” along with artists like Robbie Williams and The Wanted. Tim also attained a Guinness World Record in 2010 for the “Most number of back up dancers to a singer” in a joint effort with 400 school children at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom. For three years, under the alias “Psylo,” he was the front man of Manchester rock group “Pangaea” who’s self-titled album was released in December 2012.
Since then he has returned to Aussie shores and performed in TV commercials and landed his first feature film role playing a loveable gangster named ‘Prince’ in Morgan Holland’s “Parfume Fatalè”
He currently performs as a singer, guitarist and DJ and fronts a Sydney based soul/funk wedding and function band called Soultraders.
We are lucky enough to have spent 5 minutes with Tim to get a sneak peek into what life is like for him, his wife Tash and daughter Arielle.
Tim, who is your family made up of?
Myself, my wife, Tash and our 4yr old daughter, Arielle
What is a typical day with your family like?
I don’t think there is such thing as a “Typical” day with my family. We’ve just taken the last 9 months off to just travel and be together. We visit a lot of parks, beaches and have a lot of picnics.
Who is one person in your life you are thankful for and why?
I am so grateful for my beautiful Wife Tash, she has helped me to better understand myself, and the world we live in, she inspires me, she makes me laugh and she lifts my spirits with a simple smile. I owe her more than I could ever repay her. She’s the bomb!
Where do you live and if we were to visit you what would you show us?
This week in a tent by the beach, it’s beautiful!! We’ve been swimming, and Arielle has been feeding the ducks that have been wandering around our campsite.
What is your greatest talent or ability?
can sing, and act and play guitar. I can rip out a good version of Uptown Funk with my band Soultraders, but I still think my impression of Gollum from Lord of the Rings is probably my best talent.
If you had the attention of the world for just 10 seconds, what would you say?
Life would be better if we learned to be more humble, forgiving and compassionate. Concentrate on that, and the rest will be easy.
If you could have any superpower, which would you choose?
Well, I’m a surfer so, the ability to breathe under water would be pretty handy.
