Dr Karen Phillip has been a counselling psychotherapist for over 15 years, clinical hypnotherapist for over 8 years. She works with families, children and couples to redevelop relationships and teaches them communication skills to dissolve conflict.
Dr Karen loves working in her therapy rooms and is humbled by those who demonstrate such resilience and improvement by working through their issues so bravely during therapy.
She has travelled to many parts of our world. She is amazingly in love with her husband Wayne and children.
Dr Karen has worked on many radio stations including doing the summer series on 2GB.
She is a media commentator on TODAY and Mornings on Channel 9 and Daily Edition and Sunrise on Channel 7.
She also writes for a variety of magazines on all things family, relationships and parenting.
Dr Karen is the author of a very popular parenting book “Who Runs Your House, the kids or you?”, her book has helped thousands of parents and families around the world.
Her latest book ‘OMG We’re Getting Married’ is written to provide all couples, both pre and post marriage with the tools needed to ensure a long lasting, happy future together.
We are lucky enough to have spent 5 minutes with Dr Karen Phillip to get a sneak peek into what life is like for her.
Who is your family made up of?
Husband, 3 adult children and 3 step children
What is a typical day with your family like?
Husband rises, goes for a surf while I prepare articles and prepare for day in the counselling room supporting clients.
Who is one person in your life you are thankful for and why?
I am thankful for my amazing husband Wayne who ensures every day of my life is filled with love, happiness and respect.
Where do you live and if we were to visit you what would you show us?
I live on the beautiful Central Coast NSW. I would show visitors the incredibly beautiful beaches in our national park which is just down the road.
What is your greatest talent or ability?
Listening, understanding and ability to see both sides of all opinions plus the ability to support and guide people toward the goal they desire.
If you had the attention of the world for just 10 seconds, what would you say?
Always take the kinder option with those around you.
If you could have any superpower, which would you choose?
Stop time to enable people to think before acting. So many of us act without thought and this can cause distress and hurt to those we care about and love.
