The battleground in the fight against airborne germs has shifted to the protection of children.
The efforts of Australian parents to protect their children from germs generated by inconsiderate coughers has been given new impetus with a new campaign for winter. The campaign calls for improved cough etiquette around kids to improve the health and well being of the whole family.
The campaign is called “I hate people coughing near my kids” and is sponsored by leading cough brand Bisolvon®.
According to the National Prescribing Service, children do not have the same immunity to cold virus as adults and can get five to ten colds per year compared to two to four colds per year for adults1.
The campaign provides a range of Bisolvon® Chesty resources to help parents deal with situations where the cough etiquette of others around children is less than perfect. These resources include top tips, worksheets and colouring in sheets (available via www.facebook.com/ihatepeoplecoughing) to help mums teach their own families about correct cough etiquette, respiratory hygiene and good health during winter.
The campaign has been timed to coincide with the launch of Bisolvon® Chesty Kids Liquid in a new strawberry flavour formulated especially for children. It has a triple effect to thin, loosen and clear mucus from the chest. It is a colour, sugar, alcohol, gluten and lactose free formulation for children from 2 years and above.
Bisolvon® research shows that more than half of respondents would be likely to purchase a product designed specifically for children in treating coughs2. In addition, adults noted that strawberry was the preferred flavour when purchasing a product to treat their child’s cough2.
