Stepping Stones to Business Mentors

Geoff Golding - Business Mentor
Geoff Golding has worked in the financial sector for over 40 years at senior management and at local Directorial level in two international insurance broking companies. He also built his own Insurance broking business from a zero base to have representative offices across Australia and New Zealand, to sell out 12 years later.
He then built a small but specialist insurance consultancy which was based on sales and working on success fees which he ran for several years whilst he developed YBM.
Clearly, throughout his career Geoff has gained a great deal of broad commercial experience in the “business of business” from these years in the financial sector.

Carol Golding - Business Mentor
Carol Golding has worked in the commercial sector for over 33 years in management, and prior to becoming a mentor was CEO of “WIRES” (Wild Life Information and Rescue Service) where she turned the organisation around inside 3 years, to become a viable, vibrant organization.
Former roles include National Director of the Keep Australia Beautiful Council and she spent 7 years in the organizational wing of both Federal and State politics.
Finally, she has been a business owner with her own Marketing and Public Relations business, is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and a licensed Real Estate Agent.
Your Business Mentor Pty Ltd has been working with SMEs since late 2000 working with what we perceive as the 4 fundamentals of business – any business.
These fundamentals are: manage the money, manage the systems, manage the team/staff and manage the marketing/sales by looking objectively at these areas we can find the untapped potential in any business. We do not need to know the client's industry – that’s the clients’ job, BUT we do know about the business of business.

Rhys Roberts - Finance and Systems
Rhys spends his days demonstrating to small business the incredible value of the information locked up in their business systems and then helping them act on that information to improve their business.
Prior to establishing Viridity Rhys had spent more than 15 years working in companies of all sizes, and across many industry sectors, in a variety of senior finance roles. He set up Viridity to bring to the small business sector the financial management skills that larger organisations demand. He was shocked to discover that most smaller organisations do not have budgets, do not forecast, often do not run monthly reports and do not have access to the financial information they need to improve the performance of their business. For the past 10 years Rhys has been on a crusade to change this state of affairs.
Rhys now implements financial systems, delivers “beyond bookkeeping” and “beyond accounting” solutions to help small business owners improve the performance of their businesses, and harangues small business owners to demand high quality, timely information. Rather than offering to minimise your tax bill Viridity will work with you to maximise it (or at least to make your tax accountant work harder for his or her money)!
When not obsessing about small business Rhys loves hanging out with his wife and kids, and for 8 months of the year spends his weekends obsessing about the magnificent Wests Tigers.

Victor is currently a free-lance consultant and contributing editor at mybiz247 Australia's only resource on insurance for small business, online 24/7.

Denise Hall - Business Mentor
“Much to her surprise, at the ripe old age of 36, Denise Hall found herself unemployed, homeless and pregnant in a single kind of way! It was this dilemma that led businesswoman and "the entrepreneurial mother®" to build a blossoming 7-figure business and, just as importantly the life around it, all in guilt-free school hours. Quite an achievement given she’s not only the primary, but also the only breadwinner.
The need to become entrepreneurial came about as the direct result of singleton Motherhood. As life had to look and feel a whole lot different, the impact of not just the responsibility for earning what was needed, but also the way in which it was earned, weighed heavily. Denise spends much of her "work" time these days still running her 7-figure Mother of a Business (13 years old) and running workshops for entrepreneurial mothers in the making (2 years old).
What she now knows for sure is… build a Mother of a Business, because Business gives you Lifestyle, to be the Mother you long to be.”

Linda Robinson - Accountant
Linda’s vast experience in taxation services and public accounting has lead to the creation of her own Accounting & Business Services company. Linda has been a professional Public Accountant for more than twelve years and she is dedicated to providing her clients with accurate and personalised service.
Linda is a devoted mother who in her spare time enjoys the beach, reading and scrapbooking.
Tim Reid
Tim loves seeing the small businesses do utterly great marketing that ensures they attract and retain more of the right customers, more often.
Having spent some 15-years in the jungle (the corporate one) in both advertising and marketing camps, it occurred to TIm that the marketing concepts and principles that the top of end town utilised can just as easily be applied to the small guys. The only difference is budget, which allows the big guys to do more things more often (but not always more effectively).
Tim now shares his knowledge and enthusiasm for marketing with SMEs everywhere. He hosts Australia's #1 marketing podcast (Small Business Big Marketing), he blogs, has a book called "Cha-Ching! The sweet, sweet sound of small business marketing success", is active on the speaker circuit and is about to launch The Marketing Microscope, where marketers and business owners alike can register for webinars laser-focused on all aspects of marketing.
When not rattling on about all things marketing, he hugs his wife and kids.

Gill is a CRM expert. CRM is customer or client relationship management. All businesses have CRM to some degree otherwise they would not have any customers and as we all know, no customers means no business. Gill applies her expertise to align your strategies, your customer facing processes and your technology so your business becomes more streamlined leaving you to focus on what you do best to serve your customers.
Using a CRM technology such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM enables a business to share the information about the clients and prospects whether this has been gathered from marketing sales or delivery with the team quickly and simply. It also structures the information so that without extra work you readily review reports showing you where you are at and what needs to be done next to secure the next client or project.
